North American Youth Chess Championship 2017

International Chess School (ICS), Chess Tech, US Chess Federation, New Jersey State Chess Federation, FIDE Americas and FIDE, invite players from USA, Mexico, Canada and Bermudas in the categories under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 (boys and girls) to participate in the 13th Annual North American Youth Championship, in Morristown New Jersey, USA.

The event will take place from 12-16th June at the Hyatt Regency Morristown in Morristown, New Jersey, USA.

European Youth Chess Championship 2017

Romanian Chess Federation, “Mind Games & Events” Sports Association and the European Chess Union have the honour to invite all European Chess Federations affiliated members of ECU to participate in the European Youth Chess Championship organised in Mamaia, Romania from 4th September (arrival) to 15th September (departure) 2017.

CASTLE conference in Turin

The CASTLE project – a “Chess curriculum to Advance Students’ Thinking and Learning skills in primary Education” was born from the idea of creating a strong partnership in the field of chess in schools, under the initial thrust of three partners with considerable experience in teaching chess in schools: Alfiere Bianco (White Bishop) in Italy, Deutsche Schulschachstiftung (the German school chess foundation) in Germany, Club Ajedrez 64 Villalba in Spain.

World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships (Video)

Vivid video, which was shown at the Closing ceremony of the 1st FIDE World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships, was a nice surprise for participants, parents, arbiters and all the others who took part in the event.

In the end of the video the organiser of the championship and the President of the Chess Federation of Belarus invited all participants to come back for the 2nd World Cadets Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships, which will take place in Minsk in 2018.

1. CAS DISMISSED BULGARIAN CHESS FEDERATION APPEAL

On 30th September 2016, the Bulgarian Chess Federation filled an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision of the European Chess Union General Assembly on 10th of September 2016 to expel the Bulgarian Chess federation from the European Chess Union.

6th Continental Class Championships

The 6th Annual Continental Class Championships will be held from June 16-18, 2017, at the Westin Tysons Corner, 7801 Leesburg Pike (VA-7), Falls Church, Virginia.

The event will have six sections: Master (2200 and up), Class A (1800-1999/Unr), Class B (1600-1799/Unr), Class C (1400-1599/Unr), Class D (1200-1399/Unr) and Class E (Under 1200/Unr).

All sections will be completed over 5 rounds of Swiss system with the time control 40/100, SD/30 d10 (2-day option, rds 1-2 G/60, d10).

European Amateur Chess Championship 2017 in Nis

The European Amateur Chess Championship 2017 is currently ongoing under the splendid conditions in the Constantinus Hall of Tami Residence in Niš, Serbia.

The Championship is perfectly organized by the Chess Federation of City of Nis under the auspices of the European Chess Union.

The opening ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Nis Darko Bulatovic, Nis City Councillor for Sports Branislav Kacar, and City’s first Grandmaster Slavoljub Marjanovic.

Maxim Matlakov wins European Chess Championship 2017

Grandmaster Maxim Matlakov from Russia (2714) emerged winner of the 18th European Individual Chess Championship 2017 with 8,5/11 points.

The Russian scored the same points as Baadur Jobava (GEO, 2713) and Vladimir Fedoseev (RUS, 2690), but thanks to better tie-breaks he became the new European Chess Champion, while the other two won silver and bronze respectively.

Mediterranean Youth Chess Championships 2017

The 2017 Mediterranean Youth Chess Championships are set to take place from 21-27th October in Chania, Crete, Greece.

Voronezh Chess Masters 2017 LIVE!

The 21st Voronezh Chess Masters, dedicated to the memory of Alekhine, is going to take place 12-20 June, 2017. It consists of 136 players, 32 of which Grandmasters. Top seeded are GM Boris Grachev, GM Dmitry Kokarev, GM Boris Savchenko, GM Ivan Popov, GM Sergey Volkov, etc.

A parallel Open section consists of 118 players.
