The Saint Louis Chess Club will host the second leg of the Classic Series, the 2022 Summer Chess Classic, from June 1-11.
The event is comprised of two 10-player Round Robin tournaments: A and B. Over the course of 9 days, twenty competitors will compete for $36,000 in prize money and gain valuable experience in a top-level event. Time Control will be: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds (increment) per move starting from move one.
The field of the Summer Chess Classic A tournament is led by GM Yangyi Yu, GM Samuel Sevian and GM Grigoriy Oparin. (scroll down for the starting rank list). The lowest rated player in the field will be the youngest grandmaster in the world – GM Abhimanyu Mishra.
The top seed of the B tournament is GM Mikhail Antipov, followed on the starting rank list by: GM Jianchao Zhou and GM John Burke.
