96th Argentine Chess Championship

The 96th edition of the Argentine National Chess Championship will take place from 2-12 June, 2022 in Club Argentino de Ajedrez located in Buenos Aires. The event is organized by the Chess Federation of Argentina which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary.

More than 100 players registered for the event which will be played in 11 rounds, swiss system, with a total prize fund of 315.000 pesos. The battlefield is headlined by GM Fernando Peralta, GM Federico Perez Ponsa, and GM Leonardo Tristan. The best rated Argentine grandmaster Sandro Mareco will not participate in the event as he confirmed participation in the 2022 Summer Chess Classic which is held simultaneously with the Argentine National Championship.

The time control of the event will be: 90 minutes with the addition of 30 seconds from the first move. If two or more players tie for the first place, the Winner will be determined after the playoffs. Read more: Florencia Fernandez wins Argentine Women’s Chess Championship 2022
