Alexandra Goryachkina is victorious in the second leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix series. The first tournament in the series – FIDE Tbilisi Women Grand Prix 2024 – where Alina Kashlinskaya won Tbilisi FIDE Women Grand Prix, we now have Alexandra Goryachkina as a winner in the second event. After 9 rounds Robin, playing against every other competitor, she scored 7 points. Second place in Shymkent is for Zhongyi Tan with 6.5 points, while third place is for Bibisara Assaubayeva with 5 points. Assaubayeva has now placed for the second time in this tournament series on the podium, after achieving second place in Tbilisi. Stavroula Tsolakidou is another participant in both legs, this time placing 4th, after a third place finish in Tbilisi.
WGP Series consists of six Women’s Grand Prix tournaments held over two years 2024-2025. A total of twenty players compete in the WGP series, as each Women Grand Prix event will have ten participants. Look forward to 4 more events in this series!
