FIDE Master V R Aravindh Chithambaram (8.5) scalped one more Grandmaster and moved into sole lead after the tenth round of the Chennai Grandmaster International Open Chess tournament held in celebration of the FIDE World Championship Match 2013 at Nehru Stadium, Chennai here today.
World Youth 2012 Silver medalist Aravindh Chithambaram, who is on a roll, defeated GM Shyam Sundar today and has defeated four Grandmasters and two International Masters on way to his spectacular show. In second spot is Indian Grandmaster Vidit Santosh Gujrathi at 8.0 points.
IM Mozharov, who was sharing the lead yesterday, and Grandmasters Popov and Drazic missed today’s round due to illness.
Three more nine game International Master Norms were achieved today viz., Kathmale Sameer, S Ravi Teja and C R G Krishna.
