IM Matthew Wadsworth wins 26th HIT Chess Open

The 26th edition of the HIT Open took place from 16-22 September 2022 in Nova Gorica, Slovenia. The tournament was played in2 sections: A (for players rated 1500+) and B (for players rated U1600), in 9 rounds, swiss system, with a total prize fund of 5560 euros.

IM Matthew Wadsworth won the A tournament scoring unbeaten 7/9 points thus pocketing a prize money of 1000 eur. With a victory in the last round against IM Cristiano Manish Anto, Wadsworth emerged as the sole winner of the event. Four players tied for the second place scoring 6.5 points each, with tiebreaks criteria determining IM Vatnar Stefansson Vignir second, IM Jung Min Seo came third, IM Tor Fredrik Kaasen was fourth, andKaasen Tor Fredrik finished in the 5th place. Samo Fucka won the B tournament with a perfect 7/7 score. Nejc Zagorsek and Vilijan Leban tied for second place with 4.5 points, but tiebreaks favored Zagorsek who came second while Leban clinched third place. Scroll down for the final rankings
