The Italian Chess Championship Finals 2022 took place from 12-23 November in Cagliari (Sicily). The Open event was played as a 12-player round-robin tournament, and Women’s Championship was played in 7 round-robin rounds with 8 participants.
22-year-old GM Luca Moroni convincingly won the Open tournament scoring 8.5/11 points. He clinched his second National Champion title with a round to spare. GM Danyyil Dvirnyy and GM Sabino Brunello tied for the second place with 7 points, each, with tiebreak criteria favoring Dvirnyy who won silver while Brunello took bronze medal.
