Maximum Tension at the Grand Swiss, five share the lead before the final round

Today is the final round of the FIDE Grand Swiss 2025, one of the most important competitions of the year, giving two qualification spots for the FIDE Candidates 2026. Five share the lead before the final round, with Matthias Bluebaum, Alireza Firouzja, Anish Giri, Hans Moke Niemann, Vincent Keymer all at 7,0/9. Nine more players are half a point behind – Abhimanyu Mishra, Andy Woodward, Arjun Erigaisi, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Sarin Nihal, Awonder Liang, Santosh Gujrathi Vidit, Yangyi Yu, and Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.

The final round starts at starting at 14:00 local time in Samarkand (UTC+5), 11:00 CEST, 05:00 ET. Live games and minute by minute coverage will be on Chessdom.com as well as on Twitter/X
