Vincent Keymer crosses 2750, enters top 10, and wins Chennai Grandmasters with two point margin

We have to increase the allowed title length at Chessdom – what Vincent Keymer has done in Chennai is simply incredible! Keymer started as third seeded in the event and here is a short list of the achievements he made over the 9 rounds:

  • Finished undefeated, scoring five wins and four draws
  • Finished two points (!!) ahead of his closest competitors
  • Was the only player to win twice with black
  • Put a classy 2914 performance
  • Crossed 2750 on the rating list
  • Entered world’s top 10 for the first time

The third edition of the tournament Quantbox Chennai Grandmasters, India’s premier classical chess tournament, held from August 7 to August 15, 2025, concluded in spectacular fashion at the Hyatt Regency Chennai, with German Grandmaster Vincent Keymer emerging as the undisputed champion of the Masters section. In a thrilling display, the 20-year-old prodigy clinched the title with a round to spare, marking his first victory in this prestigious event and securing his place in the world’s live top 10.
