The 47th Annual Liberty Bell Open will be held over the Martin Luther King weekend from January 16-19, 2015, at the Sonesta Hotel, 1800 Market St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The event has six sections: Open, Under 2100, Under 1900, Under 1700, Under 1500 and Under 1250.

The Open Section has either 4-day (January 16-19) or 3-day (January 17-19) schedules to play in while all other sections have either 4-day (January 16-19), 3-day (January 17-19) or 2-day (January 18-19) schedules to play in.

The Brazil Chess Federation and the Chess Club Florianopolis – CXF organize the 2015 edition of Floripa Open from 14th to 18th January, 2015 in Florianopolis, the capital city and second largest city of Santa Catarina state in the Southern region of Brazil.

Grandmaster Mikhail Mozharov of Russia stayed ahead with a hard fought draw with compatriot Ivan Popov in the ninth and penultimate round of 13th Parsvnath International Grandmasters chess tournament now drawing to a close here.

The 2015 Moscow Open – 11th International RSSU Chess Cup is scheduled to take place from 29th January to 9th February in Moscow, Russia.

The 70th  Azerbaijan Chess Championship 2015 for men took place from 6th to 15th January, 2015.The event was a 9-round Swiss tournament with 22 participants and tempo of play 90′/40 + 30′ + 30″.

GM Ni Hua (China) scored an emphatic victory in the 2015 Australian Open, finishing with 10,5/11 to win the tournament by 2,5 points.

Ni conceded a single draw in round 8 to GM Rustam Khusnutdinov but won all his other games to collect the $6000 first prize. He defeated 5 of the 6 top seeds and finished the tournament with a 2850+ TPR.
