Teodora Injac is the leader of European Women’s Chess Championship 2025

Eight rounds were played at the European Women’s Chess Championship 2025 and IM Teodora Injac made a spectacular comeback after the loss in the first round, taking the sole lead in the tournament. IM Teodora Injac (SRB, 2454) suffered a tough loss in the first round against WFM Anastasia Kirtadze (GEO, 2180) where she had a mate in two motive to win the game, but missed it and entered a lost rooks endgame. She has now won seven consecutive games to leap on the top and take the sole lead in the tournament with only three rounds to go!

Freestyle Chess Paris day 2

The Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour 2025 is a series of Chess960 tournaments (also called Freestyle Chess), where the initial setup of pieces is randomized to reduce reliance on memorized openings. The Paris event is the second stop of the tour, following Weissenhaus, Germany (February 7–14, 2025). On Day 2 in Paris, April 8, 2025, the rapid round-robin phase concluded, determining the top eight players who advanced to the knockout stage.

Day 1 of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour 2025 in Paris took place on April 7, 2025, marking the start of the second leg of this prestigious Chess960 (Freestyle Chess) tournament. The day featured the first half of the 11-round rapid round-robin phase with a time control of 10 minutes plus a 10-second increment per move.
