The 31st edition of the International Chess Open ProAm Copa Clarin 2024 is taking place from October 19 to October 27 in Argentina. 131 players will compete for the Copa Clarin in 9 rounds Swiss. The top competitors include Federico Perez Ponsa, Leonardo Tristan, Pablo Ismael Acosta, Diego Valerga, Julian Villca and Ariel Tokman. The Berlin Under 25 Open is underway from October 21 to October 27 in Germany. Group A is one of three groups in the event and has 94 participants who compete over 9 rounds Swiss. The top players in the event include GMs Paulius Pultinevicius, Szymon Gumularz, Luis Engel, Martin Petrov, Gergely Kantor and Evgenios Ioannidis. After losing his game of round 5 from the US Chess Championship, GM Christopher Yoo destroyed his scoresheet, stormed out of the playing hall, “and struck a videographer from behind”. The Saint Louis chess club and the organizers of the US Championship did not approve of the reaction of Christopher Yoo and expelled him from the US Championship.
