The Chess Olympiad 2024 is going to take place in Budapest, Hungary from 10 to 23 September 2024. It is the world’s largest team event and will have a record breaking participation. Today the most important chess gathering of the year was officially opened in Budapest.

Instead of being part of team Ukraine in the Chess Olympiad 2024, GM Igor Kovalenko had to stay back to defend his country. At the day of the opening ceremony of the Olympiad, Igor Kovalenko joined online for some chess in full military gear.
