Chess is an accompanying event of the 3rd European Games which is being held in Krakow, Poland. The one day event in the Krakow Opera House on Monday June 19 sees 16 players (one male and one female from 8 countries) compete in a blitz round-robin, before there are playoffs for 1st, 3rd, 5th and 7th place. The time control is 3 minutes per player for each game, with a 2-second increment from move 1. The playoff matches are two blitz games followed, if needed, by an Armageddon game, where Black needs only a draw to win, but White gets more time.

The top five rated players are Maxim Matlakov, Manuel Petrosyan, Vladislav Kovalev, Timur Gareyev and Aleksandr Shimanov.

Indian Grandmasters Gukesh and Raunak Sadhwani battle it out in the final of the $50,000 Junior Speed Chess Championship held on Chess.com. The winner qualifies for the main event later in the year.
