FIDE Women Grand Prix Munich – Round 9 live

The second leg of the 2022-2023 Women’s Grand Prix Series is taking place from 1st-14th February in Munich, the capital of the state of Bavaria. Twelve of the world’s top female players will dispute an eleven-round all-play-all with their eyes set on the 15,000 euros first prize plus the valuable WGP points that add up for direct qualification to the 2023-2024 FIDE Women’s Candidates. 

Lilla Elite Hotels Open U1600 2023 – LIVE

The Lilla Elite Hotels Open is taking place from 10-12 February 2023 in Vaxjo, Sweden. The tournament is part of the Swedish Gran Prix. The first four rounds are played on Friday with a time control of 15 minutes for the entire game plus 5-second increment per move starting from move 1. The four remaining rounds on Saturday and Sunday are played with 90 minutes for the entire game plus 30-seconds increment per move starting from move 1.

Elite Hotels Open Swedish Grand Prix 2023 – LIVE

The Elite Hotels Open is taking place from 10-12 February 2023 in Vaxjo, Sweden. The tournament is part of the Swedish Gran Prix. The first four rounds are played on Friday with a time control of 15 minutes for the entire game plus 5-second increment per move starting from move 1.

Aarhus Championship Master 2 2023 – LIVE

The Aarhus Championship Master 2 2023 is taking place from 10-12 February 2023 in Aarhus, Denmark. The tiem control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game, plus a 30-second increment per move starting from move 1. It is a 6-player round-robin with Gunnar Pedersen, Poul Rewitz, Nina Hoiberg, John Hansen, Jakob Rathlev and Jesper Morch Lauridsen.

Aarhus Championship Master 1 2023 – LIVE

The Aarhus Championship Master 1 2023 is taking place from 10-12 February 2023 in Aarhus, Denmark. The tiem control is 90 minutes for 40 moves, plus 30 minutes for the rest of the game, plus a 30-second increment per move starting from move 1. It is a 6-player round-robin with Filip Boe Olsen, Rasmus Thogersen, Jens Albert Ramsdal, Hilmir Freyr Heimisson, Martin Matthiesen and Mikkel Manosri Jacobsen.

Alexandra Kosteniuk keeps the sole lead at the FIDE Women Grand Prix Munich

Alexandra Kosteniuk increased her lead this afternoon in the Munich leg of the 2023 Women’s Grand Prix after a fine performance against Anna Muzychuk. With 6.5/8, and with only three games to go, she is the clear favourite to take home the trophy. 

 “My husband – GM Pavel Tregubov – will be happy today. When I came back to the room in the last four games, he was always asking whether I had some pills to calm down his nerves!” were Kosteniuk’s first words in her post-game interview.

The 1st event on the $2 Million 2023 Champions Chess Tour – Aithings Masters, takes place from 6-10 February. The event is played in 3 Divisions of 8, 16 and 32 players with each division featuring a double-elimination knockout. The Grand Final will see the clash between the Winners of the Winners and Losers brackets – Magnus Carlsen and Hikaru Nakamura. The total prize fund of the event is $235.000.
