AI models chess rating list published

Kaggle Game Arena organized the first AI exhibition chess tournament. A unique and powerful approach to understanding AI capabilities, Kaggle Game Arena, in partnership with Google DeepMind, announced a new platform where leading AI models will compete head-to-head in chess and other games. It will feature Kimi k2 (Moonshot AI), Gemini 2.5 Pro (Google), Gemini 2.5 Flash (Google), o3 (OpenAI), o4-mini (OpenAI), Claude 4 Opus (Anthropic), Grok 4 (xAI), and DeepSeek R1.

Thanks to The Chess Viking @ZibbitVideos, a never-before-published footage from the 1972 World Chess Championship between Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky. The footage was made in 1975 and narrated by legendary Icelandic GM Friðrik Ólafsson (FIDE President 1978–1982). In it, Friðrik reflects on the match three years after its conclusion, while we are shown unique clips from the games themselves and from the closing ceremony.

Brewington Hardaway wins the Masters section of Fujairah Global Chess 2025

The US Grandmaster Brewington Hardaway is the winner of Fujairah Global Chess 2025 in the Masters section. Brewington Hardaway collected 7,5/9 and finished half a point ahead of Umut Ata Akbas, Artin Ashraf, Venkataraman Karthik, Reza Mahdavi, and Nico Chasin.

Pranav V wins Fujairah Global Chess 2025 convincingly

Pranav Venkatesh is the winner of Fujairah Global Chess 2025 in the Superstars section. Entering into the final round Pranav V had half a point advantage ahead of Sanan Sjugirov and Amin Tabatabaei. A draw would have been enough for the Indian player to secure a high prize, but he pushed with white and won his final game to finish with 7,0/9. World Chess racks up 1 million users as Indian interest fires growth

One million people worldwide are now registered on World Chess, demonstrating for the first time that the official partner of the International Chess Federation (FIDE) can be considered a major player.
