FIDE World Amateur Chess Championships 2022 concluded in Malta

The 2022 FIDE World Amateur Championship is in the books. The event took place in Malta from October 20-30 and was held in four sections: U2300, U2000, U1700 and Women U1700. Women playing in the open sections U2300 and U2000 were eligible to win prizes from both categories. All the competitions were 9-round Swiss tournaments with classical time control.

European Senior Team Chess Champions 2022 crowned in Dresden

The 2022 European Senior Team Chess Championships (50+ & 65+ age categories) concluded yesterday in Dresden, Germany. England 50-1 won the 50+ event with a round to spare and after nine played rounds scored convincing 17 match points. Berlin 1 and Germany tied for the second place scoring 14 match points, each. According to tiebreaks criteria (Olympiad-Sonneborn-Berger), Berlin 1 claimed silver and Germany came bronze.

Praggnanadhaa R and Nandhidhaa P V win Asian Continental Chess Championship 2022

India dominated the 2022 Asian Chess Championship, which came to an end in New Delhi on November 3. Indian players swept the podium in both open and women’s sections, with Rameshbabu Praggnanadhaa and Pallathur Venkatachalam Nandhidhaa winning the titles. Both events were 9-round Swiss tournaments with classical time control.

European Youth Chess Championship 2022 opens in Antalya, Turkey

The European Youth Chess Championship 2022 will be played in 6 age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18, open and girls sections separately, and opens on Sunday in Antalya, Turkey. The event will be played from 6th to 15th November in 9 rounds, swiss system.

25th Open Bavarian Championship

The 25th Open Bavarian Championship is taking place from 5–13 November 2022 in Gmund am Tegernsee, Germany. The 9 round Swiss event has a 15 000 eur prize fund with 2500 eur for the winner. Time control: 90 min/40 moves, 30 min/all moves, 30 sec. per move from the first move.

A total of 526 participants have entered the event. Top players include Gabriel Sargissian, Anton Korobov, Anton Demchenko, Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu, Daniele Vocaturo, Ivan Salgado Lopez, Eltaj Safarli, Vahap Sanal, Frederik Svane, etc. Scroll down for the full participants list

25th Open Bavarian Championship 2022 LIVE

25th Open Bavarian Championship is taking place from 5–13 November 2022 in Gmund am Tegernsee, Germany. Maria Albulet Memorial 2022 took place 29 October to 4 November in Braila, Romania. It was a 10-player round-robin chess tournament with Alicja Sliwicka, Alessia-Mihaela Ciolacu, Elena-Luminita Cosma, Evgeniya Doluhanova, Nadya Toncheva, Miruna-Daria Lehaci, Fiona Sieber, Susanna Gaboyan, Anna Kubicka, and Marina Makropoulou.

The 2022 Fall Chess Classic, organized by the Saint Louis Chess Club, is the third installment of the Chess Classics, where competitors will battle for more than $36,000 in prize money and gain valuable experience in top-level events.
