The FIDE Congress 2022 took place in Chennai, India between 31 July 2022 and 09 August 2022 as part of the Chess Olympiad 2022. Part of the FIDE Congress was the FIDE General Assembly, with the FIDE elections on the Agenda. The list of decisions of the 2022 FIDE General Assembly can be found below:

The ECU Board meeting took place on Friday, August 26. One of the decisions made was the appointment of the ECU Commissions Chairpersons for the term of four years:

ECU Arbiters Council – Mr. Geert Bailleul (Belgium)
ECU Educational Commission – Mr. Jesper Bergmark Hall (Sweden)
ECU Events Commission – Mr. Paris Klerides (Cyprus)
ECU Women’s Commission – Mrs. Regina Theissl Pokorna (Austria)

The 2022 Maia International Chess Open kicked off on Friday, 26th of August in Portugal and takes place from August 26 to September 1 in Maia. The tournament is played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control: 90 minutes for the whole game + 30 seconds of increment per each move, starting from the move one. The total prize fund of the event is 4.000 euros, with 1.200 euros reserved for the Winner of the tournament.

The 2022 Maia International Chess Festival kicked off on Friday, 26th of August in Portugal and takes place from August 26 to September 4 in Maia. The festival features the 2022 Maia Chess Open, International Chess Conference “Strong Minds”, Queens event, Summer Chess Camp, and Cobra event.

Saint Louis Rapid and Blitz 2022 day 3 LIVE

The 2022 International Chess Open San Cristobal de La Laguna takes place from 27 August to 3 September 2022 in San Cristobal de La Laguna, a city in the northern part of the island of Tenerife on the Canary Islands, Spain. The event is played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with time control: 90 minutes for the whole game plus 30 seconds of an increment per each move, starting from the move one.

The 2022 Saint Louis Rapid & Blitz kicked off yesterday with the three rapid rounds. Defending the 2021 STL Rapid & Blitz Champion title, Hikaru Nakamura is considered one of the favorites to win the tournament. However, after losing to Leinier Dominguez and Alireza Firouzja during the Day 1, Nakamura ties for the 7th place after three played rounds.
