7-year-old Kushal Jakhria is the youngest English player to reach a 2000 national rating! With two victories and one draw at the Leyland Open U2200, Kushal crossed the 2000 ECF national rating, breaking the age record of Abhimanyu Mishra who became the youngest US player to get the rating of 2000. Mishra crossed this rating barrier at seven years, six months and 22 days, later becoming the youngest grandmaster ever. Jakhria broke this record by nearly two months, getting the national rating of 2000 at seven years and five months.

The final leg of the 2022 Grand Chess Tour series of tournaments – the Sinquefield Cup kicked off yesterday in Saint Louis, USA. Only one game of the first round finished with a decisive result. It was World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen who delivered a victory against Ian Nepomniachtchi taking the early lead in the event. Day 2 brings interesting encounters and one of them is the match between Ian Nepomniachtchi and Alireza Firouzja.

The first event of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2022/2023 series will take place from 17-30 September 2022 in Nursultan, Kazakhstan. A very strong line-up is headlined by World No.

The ninth annual Sinquefield Cup is also the fifth and final leg of the Grand Chess Tour 2022. Eight Tour players: Wesley So, Maxime Vachier-Lagrave, Levon Aronian, Fabiano Caruana, Alireza Firouzja, Ian Nepomniachtchi, Leinier Dominguez, and Shakhriyar Mamedyarov are joined by wildcards Magnus Carlsen and Hans Niemann for a classical chess event which will be played in 9 round-robin rounds.

The 2022 Sinquefield Cup kicked off with a bang today as World Champion Magnus Carlsen defeated World No.3 Ian Nepomniachtchi in a clean first round game. Meanwhile, all four other games in the round were drawn, netting Carlsen the early lead in the final stop of the 2022 Grand Chess Tour.

The first leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix 2022/2023 series will take place from 17-30 September 2022 in Nursultan, Kazakhstan. The event will be played as a twelve-player round-robin tournament with time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move 1.

Twelve players qualified for the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix series through the Women’s World Chess Championship, Women’s World Cup, FIDE Women’s Grand swiss, and by the rating.

The first round of the Sinquefield Cup 2022 features the clash of the World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen and the 2021 World Chess Championship challenger Ian Nepomniachtchi. The drawing of lots determined Carlsen-Nepo match to be played at the very beginning of the event, just as it happened at the Grand Chess Tour Croatia a few months ago.
