44th Chess Olympiad 2022 – Round 6 pairings

After five played rounds at the 2022 Chess Olympiad only two teams emerged on the top with the perfect score of 10 match points – India2 and Armenia. Uzbekistan, India, USA, Cuba and Iran follow with 4 won matches and 1 draw, scoring 9 match points. India, Georgia and Romania are the only teams remaining perfect at the Women’s Chess Olympiad 2022 and tie for the top after 5 played rounds with 10 match points, each.

GM David Navara delivers a beautiful Queen sacrifice (INTERVIEW & GAME)

The first board of the Czech Republic’s team GM David Navara today delivered a beautiful Queen sacrifice winning the game against Mongolian GM Dambasuren Batsuren. Czech Republic won the match with a convincing 3.5-0.5 result, scoring 15 match points. In the post-game interview, Navara said that he needed some time to get used to clime in India and air-conditioning, adding that he is satisfied with the result so far. 60 feet underwater chess in Chennai #TweetOftheDay

Three chessboards were set by scuba divers at an unusual place as they decided to play a 60-feet underwater Chess! A group of six divers played 15 minutes underwater chess games, celebrating the first ever Chess Olympiad being held in India. The divers needed two hours to set the playground using specially designed pieces that could stay underwater. In the match Spain vs India, Alexei Shirov will be on board one against Gukesh D, who is also a new member of the 2700 club.

Mighty clashes coming in the Women’s section of the Chess Olympiad 2022 . Azerbaijan, Poland, Ukraine, India, France, India 2, Georgia and Romania emerged on the top with a maximum score of 8 match points and will now feature unpredictable and exciting games in round 5. India’s Humpy Koneru faces Frace’s Marie Sebag, Mariya Muzychuk is up against Gunay Mammadzada, and Alina Kashlinskaya is playing Irina Bulmaga.
