Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu wins the 2nd leg of Romanian Grand Prix

The 2nd leg of the 2022 Romanian Grand Prix series took place 4-11 June in Targu Mures.

German grandmaster Liviu-Dieter Nisipeanu triumphed in the tournament scoring 7/9 points and pocketing the money prize of 25.000 lei (5.000 euros). FM Ihor Samunenkov was second with 6.5 points, while a group of 6 players tied for third place with the same score of 6 points.

Rahul Srivatshav becomes India’s 74th grandmaster

19-year-old Rahul Srivatshav reached the long-awaited goal and became the 74th India’s grandmaster! He participates in the Italian Summer Chess Tour in a hunt for the needed elo points to complete the 2500 task and get the grandmaster title. Srivatshav already has five grandmaster norms earned in 2019 and he was struggling to cross the rating of 2500 to earn the GM title.

Praggnanandhaa: It motivates me better when I play alongside a strong field

16-year-old Indian chess star Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa convincingly won the 2022 Norway Chess Open, scoring unbeaten 7.5 points. He yesterday joined the Norway Chess 2022 commentary team GM Jan Gustafsson and IM Jovanka Houska.

Magnus Carlsen claims his 5th Norway Chess title

Reigning World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen won the 10th edition of the Norway Chess 2022, therefore becoming a 5-time Winner of the Norway Chess elite tournament. Magnus defeated Veselin Topalov in a thrilling final round after playing the Armageddon, and won the tournament with 16.5 points.

Saint Louis Chess Club to Host Legends and Rising Stars of American Chess

This summer, the Saint Louis Chess Club will host three national championship events showcasing the best American seniors, juniors and girls chess players.  From July 6 – 16, 2022, Saint Louis, America’s Chess Capital, will host the top 10 juniors, girls, and seniors in the invitational 2022 U.S.
