Chessbase India Super Heroes Cup

Chessbase India organizes the Super Heroes Cup 2021 with participation of 16 real life super heroes fighting in a knock-out tournament!

The event takes place from 14th-16th May with a total prize fund of around 3.000 euros, involving 16 top Indian differently-abled players. Seven players are visually impaired, six are physically disabled and three players are deaf.

Chessbase India will stream the entire tournament with live commentary by IM Sagar Shah and Amruta Mokal, together with special guests.

Koivisto shows muscles, takes the lead after R12 of TCEC S21 QL

Koivisto is back to pole position in the TCEC S21 Qualification League. After twelve rounds Koivisto collected 10,0/12 (eight wins and four draws) and remains the only undefeated engine in the field.

Koivisto is closely followed by the star newcomer ClassicAra with 9,5/12. ClassicAra lost its first game in the event against the rating favorite Booot.

Belarus Chess Championships 2021 take place from 8th-16th May in Minsk!

23 participants play a 9 rounds Swiss tournament in the Open section event, while 12 players compete in Women’s section for the title of National Champion!

Mishra attacking final GM norm (LIVE)

Abhimanyu Mishra continues his to become the youngest GM in history. Just days after conquering his second GM norm, now Mishra is attacking his final one in a tournament in Hungary.

“Vezerkepzo GM May 2021” is taking place 13-21 May in Budapest. It is a round robin valid for FIDE norms, and is also rated – one of the requirements that Mishra has to complete is cross 2500 rating.

FIDE World Chess Cup 2021

The FIDE World Chess Cup 2021 will take place in Sochi, starting July 10, 2021.

Out of 206 players taking part in FIDE World Cup 2021, a large portion will earn their spots through Continental events, allowed to be organized in hybrid or online formats. This is the first time in the history of chess that the World Chess Championship cycle where some of the participants are decided in online events.

NIS Chess Invitational 2021

Children’s Chess Club “OSNOVAC” and IA Igor Lukic organize IM, WGM and WIM Round Robin closed tournaments “NIS 2021”, valid for rating and FIDE ELO. The events will take place simultaneously from 11th-17th June, each to be a round robin with 10 participants and time control of 90 minutes for 40 moves plus 15 minutes to the end of the game with 30 seconds increment for each move, starting from the move one.

Phiona Mutesi aka Queen of Katwe graduates from Northwest University

Phiona Mutesi, the actual person behind the famous movie Queen of Katwe, has graduated with Bachelor’s of Arts and Management Degree from Northwest University.
