Title norm tournament in Kragujevac, Serbia

For the third year in a row the Central Serbia Chess Federation organizes the round robin tournaments for title norms.

The 10-player Grandmaster tournament will be held from 17-23rd November, 2016, in hotel “Sumarice” in Kragujevac.

The rate of play is 90 minutes per player for 40 moves + 30 minutes to finish the game with an increment of 30 seconds per move starting from the first.

Karpov vs Timman LIVE!

The fourth international chess tournament Basamro will take place in Murmansk 6-9 October 2016. Anatoly Karpov and Jan Timman will play a friendly match as part of the festival. The games will take place in Chimney hall of hotel Park Inn Murmansk.

The match will consist of 4 classical games with time control 2h for the first 40 moves and 30 min addition for the rest of the game. So far Karpov and Timmnn have played 99 games, the 100th encounter between the two will be in the Basamro festival in Murmansk.

Millionaire Chess 2016 LIVE!

The 3rd Millionaire Chess Tournament will start on Thursday, October 6 in Atlantic City.

Around 25 Grandmasters are registered for the Open section, including Sam Shankland, Rauf Mamedov, Eduardo Iturrizaga, Gawain Jones,Lazaro Bruzon, Samuel Sevian, Adhiban Baskaran, Jeffery Xiong etc.

Yerevan Open 2016

The 1st Yerevan International Open Tournament is taking place from 2-10th October, 2016, at the Chess Academy of Armenia in Yerevan.

The tournament is open to all Fide rated players and the playing format is 9-round Swiss system.

137 players from ten countries, including 21 Grandmasters and 10 International Masters, are competing.

FIDE World Youth U14, U16, U18 Championships – Round 10

With one round to go, only one player, Semen Lomasov from Russia, is guaranteed the first place – he cannot be surpassed in the Open 14 category.

A draw tomorrow would make Haik Martirosyan the Open 16 champion. The champions of other categories will be determined tomorrow.

The struggle in the Girls championships will be particularly sharp – sudden losses of the leaders in all age groups ruined many plans.

The 1st ECU Education Chess Conference will take place on 24-27 October in Batumi, Georgia, during the World Cadets U8, U10, U12 Championships 2016.
