Following the cancellation of the World Championship challenger Sergey Karjakin, the organizers of the Altibox Norway Chess tournament 2016 have invited Li Chao b of China to complete the 10-player field.

The Individual Polish Chess Championships 2016 for men and women were held from 29 March to 7 April in Poznan, Poland.

Both sections were played as 10-player round robin tournaments.

A senior FIDE team comprised of Deputy President Mr. Georgios Makropoulos, Vice President Mr. Israel Gelfer, Chief Executive Officer Mr. Geoffrey Borg, Moscow Executive Director Mr. Berik Balgabaev and Chairman of Arbiters Commission, Mr. Takis Nikolopoulos visited Baku for an inspection of the playing venue and hotels which will be used during the forthcoming Olympiad in September in Baku.

The FIDE Zonal 4.4 Championship has finished and we finally have a champion. IM Oladapo Adu of Nigeria has taken first place a score of 8/9 which included 7 wins and 2 draws.
