The Croatian Women’s Individual Chess Championship is taking place from 19-27th February, 2016, in the Croatian capital Zagreb.

The event is a 10-player single round robin tournament with the participation of: WGM Medić Mirjana CRO 2204, WIM Šarić Kristina CRO 2194, WFM Purgar Ivona CRO 2170, WIM Jelica Mara CRO 2154, WIM Berke Ana CRO 2130, WFM Iveković Tihana CRO 2120, NM Vujnović Patricija CRO 2091, WFM Iveković Ana CRO 2083, NM Cvitan Ena CRO 1947 and NM Blažeka Mihaela CRO 1902.

The Open International D’Echecs Cappelle La Grande 2016 took place on February 13-20, in France.

The event was a 9-round Swiss open with the participation of 538 players.

GM Gata Kamsky emerged a solo winner with 7.5/9 points, leaving the nearest followers half a point behind.

Women’s World Chess Championship Match 2016 between the current World Champion Maria Muzychuk of Ukraine and her challenger Hou Yifan of China (former World Champion 2010-2012, 2013-2015) will take place in Lviv, Ukraine, on March 1-18, 2016.

A FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar is going to be organized from 15 to 18 March 2016 in Baku, Azerbaijan, by the Azerbaijan Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The Lecturer will be IA Faik Gasanov (AZE), FIDE Lecturer.

The FIDE Seminar for International Organizers was held on 5-7 February 2016 in Moscow, Russia.

The seminar was co-organized during the festival Moscow Open 2016 by the Russian Chess Federation with the support of FIDE Events’ Commission (EVE). The Lecturer was IO Alexander Kostyev, President of the International School Chess Union.

A FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar is going to be organized from 2 to 4 May 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, by the US Chess Federation in cooperation with the Las Vegas Chess Center LLC and under the auspices of FIDE.

The SPICE Match between IM Benjamin Gledura and GM Ashwin Jayaram is taking place on February 19-23, at the Webster University.

The event is a 6-round match organized by Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence (SPICE).

The 3rd International Rapid Chess Tournament Memory of “Nebesna sotnya” is taking place on 21st February 2016, in Lutsk, Ukraine.

The event is organized by the Volyn Region Chess Federation, in collaboration with the Ukrainian Chess Federation in an 11-round Swiss format with the time control 20′ + 5″.

Top seed is GM Vladimir Onischuk (2739).
