On April 13, 2025, Faig Gasanov entered Guinness World Records as the chess arbiter with the longest career in the history of the sport, spanning an impressive 60 years and 149 days. A representative from Guinness World Records, Sheida Subashi, confirmed that all information had been thoroughly reviewed and met the required criteria for the record.

The Canadian Chess Championships 2025 will take place 17-22 April in Toronto, Canada. Organized by the Annex Chess Club, the event includes the Canadian Closed Chess Championship, the Canadian Women Chess Championship, an amateur section and multiple youth events. The winner and runner up receive additional points for qualification to the Canadian team for the 2026 Chess Olympiad.

ICCD European Deaf Team Chess Championship 2025 crowns the winners

The 2nd ICCD European Deaf Team Chess Championship took place in Croatia, 5-12 April 2025. The event had a classical section, rapid and blitz, for open and women categories.

Serbia continues to amaze on the European chess scene. After Aleksandar Indjic won EICC 2024 and Teodora Injac conquered the gold at the European Women Individual Chess Championship, now the Serbia teams come back with a gold in blitz and silver in rapid from the ICCD European Deaf Team Chess Championship 2025 crowns the winners.

Eduardas Rozentalis wins Jersey Chess Open 2025

GM Eduardas Rozentalis emerged victorious at Jersey Chess Open 2025. GM Rozentalis collected 7,5/9, half a point ahead of silver medalist GM Georg Mohr. Third place is for IM Tom O’Gorman, the top scorer of Ireland of Chess Olympiad in Budapest. Top woman of the event is WGM Katarzyna Toma. Scroll down for the full standings and replay the games.
