North American Youth Championship 2025

North American Youth Chess Championship 2025 will be held August 17-23, 2025 at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario (Canada).

The age categories for the 2025 North American Youth are Under 8, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14, Under 16, and Under 18. Each category has an Open and Girls section. For this tournament, a player’s age is his or her age as of Jan. 1, 2025. This event is open to players from Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

Pan-American Youth Chess Festival 2025

The Confederation of Chess for Americas (CCA) and the Peruvian Sports Chess Federation have announced the XXXV Pan-American Youth Chess Festival will be held from July 27 to August 3, at the Callao Regional Sports Village in Lima, Peru.

There will be 12 sections in the tournament, Open and Girls for each age category: Under 18, Under 16, Under 14, Under 12, Under 10 and Under 8. A player’s age as of January 1, 2025 determines their age eligibility for a section.

US Chess SuperNationals 2025 is a massive 6000+ players event. The SuperNationals VIII is a major scholastic chess event organized by US Chess, scheduled for May 8–11, 2025, at the West Concourse, Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. It combines national championships for various scholastic divisions, attracting young chess players from across the United States.

Zarina Nurgaliyeva is among the leaders at Grenke Open 2025 with a perfect 3,0/3. She has defeated two International Masters and gained 71 ELO so far in the Open section of the massive Grenke Open. Zarina Nurgaliyeva is sharing the first position with 51 more players (out of 875 participants) and is playing tomorrow with GM Alexei Shirov.

Grenke Chess 2025 is a massive chess event that takes place 17-21 April in Germany (live games / information and schedule). Among the many strong players is Alexander Grischuk, who gave an interview for the organizers.

Alexander Grischuk says that freestyle chess removes this “this idiotic 6 hours preparation for the game.” He adds, “Classical is my least preferred format, it is either blitz, rapid of freestyle”.
