Reykjavik Open 2025 LIVE

The Reykjavik Open 2025 is an annual chess tournament held in Reykjavik, Iceland. This year, it is scheduled to take place from April 9th to April 15th at the Harpa Conference Hall, a stunning venue in the heart of downtown Reykjavik. Day 1 of the Freestyle Chess Grand Slam Tour 2025 in Paris took place on April 7, 2025, marking the start of the second leg of this prestigious Chess960 (Freestyle Chess) tournament. The day featured the first half of the 11-round rapid round-robin phase with a time control of 10 minutes plus a 10-second increment per move. Fridrik Olafsson passes away at the age of 90

Sad news for the world of chess: Fridrik Olafsson passes away at the age of 90. Six times Icelandic champion, two times Nordic champion and FIDE from 1978 to 1982, Fridrik Olafsson resided in Reykjavik, where he recently celebrated his anniversary. This year’s edition of Reykjavik Open 2025 is dedicated to Grandmaster Fridrik Olafsson’s and his 90th birthday
