The 6th General Assembly of the Turkish Chess Federation (TCF) was held on Wednesday, October 9, at Ankara Green Park Hotel. Gülkız Tulay, who was elected as the TCF president on November 5, 2012 and served Turkish chess for 12 years, handed over the presidency to Fethi Apaydın. Fethi Apaydın was the only candidate for the Presidency at the General Assembly, who received 135 of 149 votes, became Turkish Chess Federation President.

The second leg of the FIDE Women’s Grand Prix Series 2024-2025 is set to take place in Shymkent, Kazakhstan, from October 29 to November 9, 2024, with an exciting line-up of some of the strongest female chess players in the world who will face off in a 9-round round-robin tournament.

The Weissenhaus Young Masters 2024 chess tournament is happening from October 14 to October 18 in Germany. The event is a 10 participants round robin. The top competitors at this event include GMs Pavel Eljanov, S.P. The London Chess Classic 2024 will take place from November 29th to December 7th at the Emirates Stadium, London, home to Arsenal Football Club. This is the 14th edition of Chess in Schools and Communities flagship event and this year it will be sponsored by XTX Markets.

The Bundesliga Chess Ost (East) 2024/2025 1st Leg will be held from October 11 to March 23 in Wien, Austria. The event is a team tournament where 221 players, divided into 12 teams, will partake in competition over 11 rounds under the Round Robin for teams system.
