Chess is part of the European Games in Krakow 2023

Chess will make its first step in the European Games – European Olympic Committees as an accompanying event under the aegis of the Organising Committee of Krakow-Maloposka 2023.

World Chess Champions 2023 crowned in WSCC

The FIDE World School Chess Championship 2023, a part of the 4th Rhodes Chess Festival, is in the books. The event took place from April 13 – 23, 2023, at the Rodos Palace Resort Hotel.  A very demanding and highly competitive event came to an end, with the winners crowned in each category. Round 9 started with a fast quick between WFM Anastasia Kirtadze and Lilian Eshkol, with Anastasia securing 1st place in her section. The players, coming into the final 9th round as the leaders, secured titles in almost all the categories.

The last appearance of Magnus Carlsen as World Champion

Magnus Carlsen was one of the stars of the Breakthrough Prize. There he presents a prize for theoretical computer science and math, together with Lily Collins, to Daniel Spielman. Daniel Spielman’s algorithms are used for computing, signal processing, design of clinical trials and many more applications. Carlsen appears after min 33 in the video.

All the games start at 15:00 local time (GMT+6), and there is a rest day every two rounds. Ding – Nepo game 11 is set to start on April 24 and it follows a draw that leaves Nepo in the lead.

The time control is 90 minutes for the entire game with a 30-second increment beginning from move 1.
