The FIDE World School Chess Championship 2023, a part of the 4th Rhodes Chess Festival, is in the books. The event took place from April 13 – 23, 2023, at the Rodos Palace Resort Hotel.  A very demanding and highly competitive event came to an end, with the winners crowned in each category. Round 9 started with a fast quick between WFM Anastasia Kirtadze and Lilian Eshkol, with Anastasia securing 1st place in her section. The players, coming into the final 9th round as the leaders, secured titles in almost all the categories.

Magnus Carlsen was one of the stars of the Breakthrough Prize. There he presents a prize for theoretical computer science and math, together with Lily Collins, to Daniel Spielman. Daniel Spielman’s algorithms are used for computing, signal processing, design of clinical trials and many more applications. Carlsen appears after min 33 in the video.

Ian Nepomniachtchi vs Ding Liren, aka Nepo – Ding is the final of the World Chess Championship 2023. The Nepo – Ding match will take place in Astana, Kazakhstan, from April 7 to May 1, at the elegant St. Regis Astana hotel. All the games start at 15:00 local time (GMT+6), and there is a rest day every two rounds. Ding – Nepo game 11 is set to start on April 24 and it follows a draw that leaves Nepo in the lead.

The Orjan Lindroth Memorial Chess Tournament 2023 is taking place from 29 May to 03 June 2023 in Nassau, Bahamas.

The Vrindavana Chess Festival MMT International Open is taking place from 23rd to the 27th of April in Vrindavan, India as a 9-round Swiss. The time control is 90 minutes for the entire game with a 30-second increment beginning from move 1. The top five rated players are Chatterjee Utsab, V A V Rajesh, M Chakravarthi Reddy, Kumar Reddy Poluri Bharat and Akash Thakur.

The 2nd “MIKIS THEODORAKIS” INTERNATIONAL CHESS TOURNAMENT CHANIA 2023 finished today. Johan-Sebastian Christiansen, Dimitris Alexakis and Elina Danielian shared the top 3 spots with 7.5 points from 9 rounds. Johan-Sebastian Christiansen is the big winner, the silver gone to Dimitris Alexakis and Elina Danielian won the bronze.
