Today is a rest day in the World Chess Championship 2023 aka Nepo – Ding match, and this is a great opportunity to focus our attention on the other World Championship going on at this moment. The strongest chess engines in the world – Stockfish and Leela Chess Zero – are battling in a 100 games match for the highest title in computer chess.

The 2023 Greek Junior Championships U20 (Open & Girls) take place in Trikala from 18-24 April. The tournaments are 9-round Swiss events, with a time control of 90 minutes for the entire game and a 30-second increment from move 1. In Junior U20 section will participate Konstantinos Tsarsitalidis, Christos Tsarsitalidis, Georgios Antonioudakis, Antonios Gkavardinas, Dimitrios Stoimenidis, Evangelos Koulouris, Isidoros Papaoulakis, etc.

The Austrian Women’s Bundesliga is a 10-team round-robin. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.

The XLV Open International Barbera del Valles 2023 will take place from 04-12 July 2023 in Barberà del Vallès (Barcelona), Spain. The time control is 90 minutes plus a 30 seconds increment starting from move one. The tournament system is 9-round Swiss.

The Austrian Bundesliga is an 12-team round-robin tournament taking place in Jenbach/Graz/Linz. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one. 

Results from today :

The British Rapidplay Championship is an 11-round Swiss tournament taking place from 15–16 April 2023 in Bingley. Players receive 15 minutes for the entire game, plus a 10-second increment starting from move one. 

After a strong start by Nepo and an emotionally shaken Ding in next rounds, today Ding Liren recovered with a brilliant game. Following an opening played by his second Richard Rapport, Ding dynamically mixed the position, leaving little space for black in a complicated game.

The 2nd Chessable Sunway Formentera Festival is taking place from 18–28 April 2023 in Formentera, Spain. Players receive 90 minutes for 40 moves, followed by 30 minutes to the end of the game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.  It is a 10-round Swiss tournament with participation of Vitaliy Bernadskiy, Daniel Dardha, Chopra Aryan, Fernando Peralta, Xiangyu Xu, etc.
