The US Chess Championship 2022 is taking place from 5-20 October at the Saint Louis Chess Club.
The 2022 U.S. Chess Championship and the US Women’s Chess Championship 2022 are concurrently held from 5-20 October in Saint Louis Chess Club.
GM Fabiano Caruana took over the sole lead of the U.S. Championship by defeating co-leader GM Hans Niemann. In the U.S. Women’s Championship, WGM Tatev Abrahamyan and WGM Jennifer Yu won to join FM Alice Lee for the lead.
Fabiano Caruana defeated 19-year-old Hans Niemann in the fourth round of the US Chess Championship taking the sole lead in the event (Replay the game here).

After Hans Niemann defeated the World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen in the third round of the Sinquefield Cup 2022, Carlsen decided to withdraw from the tournament without detailed explanations.
The US Chess Championship 2022 is being played in Saint Louis Chess Club with Fabiano Caruana, Levon Aronian and Wesley So headlining the field which includes Hans Niemann as the 8th seed.
