World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen currently plays the European Chess Club Cup 2022 where he competes for Norwegian Offerspill Chess Club. Magnus scores 3.5/4 points while his team ties for the third place with 8 match points. After defeating Anton Korobov in the fifth round of the event, Magnus Carlsen joined Fiona Steil-Antoni for the post-game interview.

The 8th edition of the Global Chess Festival is being held today, October 8th, in Budapest, Hungary. The event is organized by Judit Polgar Chess Foundation and it will take place in the Hungarian National Gallery. GM Fabiano Caruana and GM Christopher Yoo join the tie for first in the U.S. Championship with critical victories. In the U.S. Women’s Championship, FM Alice Lee and WIM Megan Lee reached 2.5 to narrow down the leaderboard. 

Christopher Yoo scored his second consecutive victory in the US Chess Championship as he defeated Elshan Moradiabadi in today’s third round. Yoo joined the live studio for the post-game interview, analyzing the beautiful game he converted into a victory.

After comfortably drawing his Round 3 game against Jeffery Xiong with black pieces, Wesley So joined the live studio of the US Chess Championship to share his insights on the game. Wesley seemed satisfied with the result and explained that the game went pretty smoothly for him.

After 19-year-old American grandmaster Hans Niemann defeated Magnus Carlsen in the third round of the Sinquefield Cup 2022, the World Chess Champion decided to withdraw from the event.

The 37th European Chess Club Cup and the 26th European Women’s Chess Club Cup are simultaneously taking place from 2nd – 10th October in Mayrhofen, Austria with participation of 87 teams and world-top chess players.
