Carlsen wins Meltwater Champions Chess Tour title

Magnus Carlsen survived a fierce fightback from Hikaru Nakamura to clinch his first Meltwater Champions Chess Tour title on Sunday. The World Champion broke his duck in the $1.5 million Tour events at the fifth attempt with a 3-1 final set victory that sealed the New In Chess Classic.

173 kids in one chess tournament! Over the board chess is back!

114 boys and 59 girls are playing this week in the Serbian Youth Chess Championships 2021. The event takes place 3-9 May in Subotica and is one of the bright signs that chess is (finally!) going back to normal.

The event started this weekend with rapid and blitz games. Starting Monday is the main classical chess event, played over 9 rounds in the Swiss system. The participants are divided in boys and girls groups, each divided further into six age categories.
