The GRENKE Chess Open 2017 has broken all records. 1,202 participants have registered for what is currently the largest open chess tournament in the world.

In group A, 688 participants including over 200 title holders are fighting for a total prize pool of 37,000 Euros, with 10,000 Euros awaiting the winner. In group B, 384 participants are taking part, while group C has a total of 130 participants.

The Chinese Chess Association in cooperation with the Zhu Hai Chess Association is going to organize a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Xiamen, China, from 29 April to 1 May 2017, under the auspices of FIDE.

The Kortchnoi Open, organized by the Schachgesellschaft Zurich, is taking place from 13-17th April, parallel to the Kortchnoi Zurich Chess Challenge 2017.

The 7-round Swiss event will have two sections – Main and Master with 20 Grandmasters among 85 participants from 20 countries.

The GRENKE Chess Open will be held over the Easter holidays from 13th to 17th April at the Schwarzwaldhalle in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The Easter holidays are a festive season for German chess fans. This year is no exception, with the GRENKE Chess Classic 2017 being held from 15th to 22nd April.

World Champion Magnus Carlsen, who won the last GRENKE Chess Classic in 2015, will again be competing, ready to defend his title.

The Korchnoi Zurich Chess Challenge 2017 has had its first decisive result: The American Hikaru Nakamura won the Opening Blitz and thus made it very clear that he intends to repeat his success from 2015 and 2016 and therefore become the first player to win the tournament three times in a row.

The 2017 Asian Youth Chess Championship and Asian Youth Rapid and Blitz Championships were held from 1-10th April in Tashkent, the capital city of Uzbekistan. The event was organized by the Uzbekistan Chess Federation (UCF), under the auspices of the Asian Chess Federation (ACF).

The 18th European Individual Women’s Chess Championship 2017 started yesterday in the Radisson Blu Latvija Conference & Spa Hotel in Riga, capital of Latvia.

FIDE Secretariat has published the bids for the World Chess Championships 2019 received by the deadline of 31st March 2017.

The bids were forwarded to the FIDE Events Commission which will decide on the technical sufficiency of the bids received according to the bid regulations and the call for bids published on the FIDE site.
