Ljilja Drljevic is new Serbian Women’s Champion

The Serbian Women’s Chess Championship took place from 20-28th April at Hotel Šumarice in Kragujevac.

Ten players with the average elo 2160 competed in the round robin tournament.

WIM Ljilja Drljevic, member of chess club Radnički-Bone Ćuprija, cruised to the victory and her first national title despite the loss in the first round.

Hasselbacken Chess Open 2016 LIVE!

Stockholms Schacksällskap, one of the world’s oldest chess clubs, celebrates its 150 years jubilee with a grand tournament at the venerable Scandic Hotel Hasselbacken**** in the heart of The Royal Djurgården in Stockholm, Sweden.

The Hasselbacken Chess Open 2016 will be held from April 30 through May 8, 2016, in a 9-round FIDE-Swiss open format and it will be valid for FIDE rating and norms.

World Amateur Chess Championships 2016 – Winners

The World Amateur Chess Championships 2016 took place from 19-27th April, 2016, in Halkidiki, Greece on the northern coast of the Aegean Sea.

For the first time the Championships were held in three sections: Under-2300, Under-2000 and Under-1700. The total prize fund was 9000 EUR.

Chess in School Conference in Warsaw, Poland

The project “Education through Chess in School” is organized and guided by Polish Chess Federation in cooperation with the provincial chess unions and local authorities. It is addressed to primary schools for pupils from classes I-III. Key partners for Polish Chess Federation include Ministry of National Education and Ministry of Sport & Tourism.

Farrukh Amonatov winner of Agzamov Memorial

Grandmaster Farrukh Amonatov from Tajikistan took the winner’s trophy in the 10th Tashkent Open – Memorial of Georgy Agzamov after edging the European Blitz Champion Rauf Mamedov on tie-break.

The two players finished on 7,5/9 points each.

A New Chess Magazine Launched in Turkey
