WIM Trisha Kanyamarala wins Carlow Rapid Chess 2025

WIM Trisha Kanyamarala is the winner Carlow Rapid Chess 2025 that took place this weekend in Seven Oaks Hotel, Carlow, Ireland. Trisha Kanyamarala collected 6,0/7, the same score as Saptorshi Gupta, IM Tarun Kanyamarala, and Vitaliy Salmin, but won the gold medal on a better tiebreak.

FIDE Women World Chess Cup 2025 is taking place July 5 – July 29 in Batumi, Georgia, and is one of the major events of The Chess Calendar. A total of 107 participants (increased from the initially announced 103 participants) will compete for 691 000 eur prize fund.

Afruza Khamdamova is now WGM

16 year old Afruza Khamdamova won the top women prize at the Aktobe Open – Dvorkovich Memorial. Along the way, Afruza Khamdamova completed the requirements for a final WGM norm and the requirements for an IM norm. She achieved a new peak rating of 2378 ELO, adding 52 points this month, and completed her first 2500+ elo performance.

Alexey Sarana wins Dvorkovich Memorial

Alexey Sarana is the winner of Aktobe Open – Dvorkovich Memorial. Sarana collected 7,5/9, half a point ahead of a large group of players, including GM Aryan Chopra (2620), GM Zhamsaran Tsydypov (2514), GM Pa Iniyan (2573), GM Murtas Kazhgaleyev (2500), and GM Hao Wang (2701). Brazilian Chess Open SESC Caioba 2025

Brazilian Chess Open SESC Caioba 2025 takes place June 29 – July 7 in Brazil. It is one of the major open tournaments of the South American Chess Calendar with 204 players, 55 of them titled. Top participants include GM Sandro Mareco, GM Krikor Sevag Mekhitarian, GM Alexandr Fier, GM Conrad Holt, GM Leonardo Tristan, GM Renato R.

European Youth Team Chess Championship 2025 LIVE

The European Youth Team Chess Championship 2025 will take place from 4th July to 12th July in Terme Čatež, Slovenia. The event will include four separate competitions, an open competition and a girl’s competition in both age categories U12 and U18. Each national federation member of the European Chess Union (ECU) has the right to enter up to four (4) teams of four (4) players and one (1) reserve in the open competitions and up to four (4) teams of two (2) female players and one (1) reserve in the girl competitions.

Kingston Invitational IM LIVE

Kingston Invitational IM is taking place August 12 – August 16 in Kingston-upon-Thames, England. It is a round robin tournament with GM Jakub Kosakowski, IM Vladyslav Larkin, IM Peter Large, CM Supratit Banerjee, FM Roland Bezuidenhout, CM David Maycock, IM Graeme Buckley, Adam A Taylor, WIM/FM Liwia Jarocka, and CM Peter Lalic.
