The Perpetual Chess Podcast by Ben Jonson features GM Speelman in an extensive video preview of the 2024 Chess Olympiad

Ben Jonson says, “The 2024 FIDE Chess Olympiad begins September 11, 2024 in Budapest, and it will feature many of the world’s top players. It is always a fun tournament for players and fans alike, with its unique format and the opportunity for players to represent their country. Joining me to help preview this year’s edition is 14- time British Chess Olympian, author, and three-time British champion, GM Jonathan Speelman.“

The chess world is vast and inside you sometimes find real treasures. Such are two Facebook groups, managed by the passionate chess fan Brian Karen. One of the groups is dedicated to the FIDE World Chess Championships and the other is specialized for Chess Book Collectors. Both groups have close to 150 000 members and are a civil and intellectual place for sharing valuable resources and having deep discussions.

Chessdom had the chance to speak to Brian Karen, founder and manager of both groups.

Returning in 2025, the Grand Chess Tour 2025 will celebrate its 10th anniversary and promises even more excitement and exceptional chess from the world’s top players, including a purse of more than $1.5 million dollars and the return of a knockout finals for the top four players of the regular season. Ajedrez Ciudad de Galdar 2024 is taking place from the 2nd to the 9th of September in Gáldar, Gran Canaria, Spain. Gary Kasparov’s books “How life imitates chess” are bestsellers. But today another great imitation was pointed out by Max Farberov: it is Hans Niemann who imitates Eminem! Team India comes as one of the rating favorites at the Chess Olympiad 2024. The combined ELO of the India open and women’s team is the highest of the Olympiad.
