The 2022 Canadian Open Chess Championship took place 11 – 17 July at the Hillfield Strathallan College, Hamilton, Ontario.

America’s newest esports chess star Levon Aronian shrugged off a slow start to the FTX Road to Miami to clinch his first title of the 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour season. The 15th edition of the Paleochora International Chess Tournament takes place from 17-24 July in Paleochora, a city of the southwest Cretan coast. Paleochora School & Cultural Center of Paleochora hosts the event which will be played in two groups: A and B, with participation of 300 players from 26 countries, including 18 grandmasters and 11 international masters.

The third edition of the Valencia International Chess Open took place July 11-17, 2022, in Torrente, Spain. The event attracted more than 100 entries who fought for a total prize fund of 10.000 euros over 9 swiss rounds, with time control of 90 minutes for the entire game plus a 30-second increment starting on move one. 

The third tournament and the midway point of the Grand Chess Tour starts Wednesday and takes place at the Westin Zagreb from July 19-24. Continuing in the thrilling fashion of rapid and blitz format, exciting displays of chess play and blunders under time pressure will certainly keep fans entertained.

The final day of the 2022 U.S. Senior, U.S. Junior, & U.S. Girls’ Junior Championships was one of the most thrilling finishes at a National Championship and one to be remembered for years, with all the titles being up for grabs until the final round, the day was certainly an emotional rollercoaster.

The 35th edition of the Schwarzacher Chess Open 2022 starts today at the Ceremony hall of the community of Schwarzacher in Austria. The event takes place from 16 – 24 July and features three tournaments: Open A (open to all players), Open B (for players rated U2100) and Open C (for players rated U1700). The tournaments will be played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with the total prize fund of nearly 12.000 euros.

The 45th edition of the Ikaros International Chess Tournament took place from 9-17 July at the Greek island in the Aegean Sea – Ikaria. The event was played in 9 rounds, swiss system, with a total prize fund of 3.300 euros.

The 2022 Norwegian Chess Championships took place from 8-16 July 2022 in Kongsvinger, Norway. The event gathered around 300 players and it was played in 16 groups: Elite, Masters, Candidates, Group 1, Group 2, Group 3, Grop 4, Seniors 50+, Seniors 65+, and different Juniors and Cadet groups.
