The 2022 Jerry Spann Memorial – Oklahoma Open&State Chess Championship took place over the weekend June 25-26 in Broken Arrow, Tulsa, Oklahoma. The event was played in three sections: Open, Reserve (U1700) and Amateur (U1300), over 5 swiss rounds, with time control of 90 minutes for the whole game + 30 seconds of increment, and gathered 90 players.

The FIDE World Senior 50+ and 65+ Team Chess Championships 2022 took place from 20-29 June in Acqui Terme. England won three world titles as England’s men won both the World Over 50 Championship and the World Over 65 Championship. England Women won the Women’s World Over 50 Championship, making it a triple success.

In his latest Chessable recap, Anish Giri analyzes the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament games from the 10th round. “As the tournament’s approaching the finish line, slowly but surely, it gets very tense. As it happens with every Candidates tournament that I have seen, towards the end, the desperate people are getting more desperate. We are entering the stage where some people are losing a mathematical chance of a victory, and those who still have this chance are going all out,” explained Anish before showing the games.
