Andranik Margaryan Memorial LIVE!

The Chess Academy of Armenia is organizing the 2014 Andranik Margaryan Memorial on 8-15 January at the Armenian Chess Academy.

The main event is the 10-player round robin tournament for the Grandmaster norm. Among the participants is the new World U18 champion IM Idani Pouya from Iran.

12th Parsvnath Delhi International Grandmasters Chess Tournament

Fresh from his victory at the Al-Ain Classic, Grandmaster and former world junior champion Abhijeet Gupta will spearhead the Indian challenge in the 12th edition of Parsvnath Delhi International Grandmasters Chess Tournament that gets underway here at the Ludlow Castle sports complex on Thursday.

Tornike Sanikidze wins Gurgaon International

Grandmaster Tornike Sanikidze of Georgia annexed the title in the 2nd Gurgaon International Open Chess Tournament after settling for a quick draw with International Master Swayams Mishra in the tenth and final round that concluded here at the Suncity International School.

In what turned out to be a four-way tie for the top, veteran Grandmaster Raset Ziatdinov of United States was declared second while Mishra finished third.

DYTM Raja Dr Nazrin Shah KL International Open Chess Championships 2014

With sponsorship from the Malaysian Intellect Development Foundation, Polgar Chess Asia and the Kuala Lumpur Chess Association (KLCA), together with the Malaysian Chess Federation (MCF), is pleased to announce the DYTM Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah KL International Open Chess Championship will be held in Kuala Lumpur from 4-11 April 2014.

Jon Ludvig Hammer Winner of Rilton Cup

The Stockholm Chess Federation organized the 43rd Rilton Cup from 27th December 2013 to 5th January 2014.

The tournament was played in three groups: Rilton Cup, Rilton Elo and Rilton Open (the Open was only for Nordic players with a national rating lower than 1800).

Rilton Cup and Rilton Elo are rated with FIDE and played over 9 rounds of Swiss system. The playing venue was the Clarion Hotel Stockholm, Ringvägen 98, 111 20 Stockholm.

Vladimir Petkov victorious in Gabicce Mare

The 2nd Winter Sea Deluxe Open was held on 2-6th January at the Hotel Michelacci in Gabicce Mare, Italy, next to the Adriatic Sea.

The tournament was organized by the Fano Chess Club and Dario Pedini.

A total of 126 players competed in three sections: Open A for those rated above 1900, Open B for the U2000 participants, Open C for U1600 and Juniors U16 (born after 1.1.1997).

FIDE International Organizers Seminar in Madrid, Spain

A FIDE Seminar for International Organizers was held on 27-30th December in Madrid, Spain.

This seminar was organized by Capablanca Chess Academy with the support of the Madrid Chess Association and the Chess Federation of Spain “FEDA”.

Gurgaon International Chess Tournament – Round 8

With two round remaining the 2nd edition of Gurgaon International Grandmasters Chess Tournament heading for a close finish as at the end of eighth round matches seven players including top seed Kravtsiv Martyn of Ukraine and Indian hope Sahaj Grover leading the point table with six and half points.
