The breaking news of Richard Rapport’s transfer to Romania exploded yesterday, overwhelming social media. The shockwaves of the news went through the chess world and engaged chess players and journalists who reacted to the unhoped transfer that includes also Richard’s wife – WGM Jovana Rapport.

Exactly two months left before the start of the 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 and 187 countries with 343 teams (189 in the Open section and 154 in the Women’s section) enrolled for the competition.

The Chess Federation of Argentina which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary disclosed who will compose Argentine National Teams at the upcoming 44th Chess Olympiad 2022 which starts on 28th July in Chennai.

One of the best Hungarian Grandmasters and the Women’s World Champion Susan Polgar commented on Rapport’s decision to change federation to Romania.

The 96th edition of the Argentine National Chess Championship will take place from 2-12 June, 2022 in Club Argentino de Ajedrez located in Buenos Aires. The event is organized by the Chess Federation of Argentina which this year celebrates its 100th anniversary.

The Saint Louis Chess Club will host the second leg of the Classic Series, the 2022 Summer Chess Classic, from June 1-11.

The event is comprised of two 10-player Round Robin tournaments: A and B. Over the course of 9 days, twenty competitors will compete for $36,000 in prize money and gain valuable experience in a top-level event. Time Control will be: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves followed by 30 minutes for the rest of the game with an addition of 30 seconds (increment) per move starting from move one.

Norway Chess 2022 is going to take place May 31st to June 10th in Stavanger.
