The all-star field in the Chessable Masters was cut in half today as a nervy climax to the $150,000 event’s prelim stage saw eight go through to the knockout.

The Czech Women’s Chess Championship 2022 kicked off in Jaromerice nad Rokytnou, taking place from 21-29 May.

The 1/8 finals of the jubilee edition of the TCEC Cup are history. The 16 best engines from the TCEC S22 qualified for this round without trouble. The league winner Stockfish, the Superfinal participant KomodoDragon, and the subfinal winner Lc0 had no problems in their matches, winning with significant margin. Stoofvlees, Slowchess, and Igel followed suit.

Magnus Carlsen played one of the worst possible opening moves and still secured his place in the Chessable Masters knockout on a day his Dutch rival Anish Giri powered into the lead.

The rapid portion of Superbet Rapid and Blitz Poland came to an end with GM Vishy Anand winning the rapid section, though his two points lead was diminished to one after the Indian legend conceded his first loss in the last round to his closest rival GM Richard Rapport.

The Slovak Youth Chess Championships 2022 take place from 21–28 May 2022 in Ľubovnianske kúpele. The event is played in 6 age categories: U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 & U18, open and girls sections separately.
