The Mongolian Open and Women’s Championships 2022 took place from May 12-23, 2022, in Chinggis, Khentii. Both events were played as 12-player round-robin tournaments with classical time control.

The General Assembly of the French Olympic and Athletic Committee brought the decision on May 23rd to accept the membership application of the French Chess Federation.

The Azerbaijan Women’s Chess Championship 2022 took place in Baku from 16 to 23 May. Eight participants compete in a round-robin tournament of 7 rounds fighting for the trophy of the National Championship and the total prize fund of 11.400 AZN (6.500 euros). 

On May 19, Inal Sheripov (Belgium) announced his intention to run for FIDE President. His ticket has already been officially submitted to the FIDE office, with supporting letters from the federations of Ukraine, Zambia, Sierra-Leone, Barbados, and Timor Leste.

The final day of Superbet Rapid & Blitz Poland was filled with a significant amount of excitement in the history of The Grand Chess Tour. Going to the final round of the blitz games, four players had a chance to win or tie for first place for this event. The Ukrainian Grandmaster Andrii Baryshpolets is running for president of FIDE in the upcoming presidential elections during the Chess Olympiad 2022. Baryshpolets announced his intention to challenge Dvorkovich, pointing corruption practices, systematic reputational issues, misrepresentation of federations, and failures to observe democratic, liberal and corporate governance principles.
