FIDE World Cadets U8, U10 & U12 Chess Championships 2022

The FIDE World Cadets Chess Championships 2022, a tournament organized by FIDE, the Georgian Chess Federation and the Georgian Chess Club “64”, will take place in Batumi, Georgia from September 15-28, 2022. The championships will be held in three age groups – Under 8, 10, 12 and 2 sections – open and girls (totally 6 tournaments).

The 2022 Kyrgyzstan Open and Women’s National Chess Championships concluded today in the Kyrgyzstan capital, Bishkek. The events were simultaneously played from April 30 – May 11.

The 15th International Chess Tournament Tashkent Open took place in the city of Tashkent, from May 3 to May 12, 2022. The event hosted in the building of the Tashkent International Chess Academy is dedicated to the memory of Georgy Agzamov, the first grandmaster of Uzbekistan.

Throwback to 1997 – Deep Blue defeats Kasparov #TweetOftheDay

Deep Blue versus Garry Kasparov was a pair of six-game chess matches between the 13th World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov and an IBM supercomputer called Deep Blue. The first match was played in 1996, from 10-17 February in Philadelphia. Kasparov won the match with score of 4–2. A rematch was played in 1997, from 3-11 May.
