The 2022 Kyrgyzstan Open and Women’s National Chess Championships concluded today in the Kyrgyzstan capital, Bishkek. The events were simultaneously played from April 30 – May 11.

The 31st Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) officially commenced their chess games on May 10, 2022, in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, Vietnam. 

The 15th International Chess Tournament Tashkent Open took place in the city of Tashkent, from May 3 to May 12, 2022. The event hosted in the building of the Tashkent International Chess Academy is dedicated to the memory of Georgy Agzamov, the first grandmaster of Uzbekistan.

Deep Blue versus Garry Kasparov was a pair of six-game chess matches between the 13th World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov and an IBM supercomputer called Deep Blue. The first match was played in 1996, from 10-17 February in Philadelphia. Kasparov won the match with score of 4–2. A rematch was played in 1997, from 3-11 May.

The French Individual Chess Championships 2022 will take place from 13-21 August in the city of Albi. A magnificent city listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site will host the 95th edition of the French Individual Chess Championship after three years of pause caused by the pandemic of Covid19.

The XV Continental Chess Championship of the Americas 2022 took place from May 1-11, 2022 at the Best Western Hotel Terraza, San Salvador, El Salvador. 117 players from 10 countries competed in 11 rounds swiss tournament, fighting for the total prize fund of 20.000$ and four qualification spots for the FIDE World Cup.

The 79th LOTTO Polish Championship and the 74th Polish Women’s Chess Championship simultaneously take place in Kruszwica, from 9-17 May 2022.

The 29th Russian Team Championship Premier League, the 23rd Russian Women’s Team Championship, the Russian Youth Team Championships (open and girls), and the all-Russian Team Championship Higher League took place from April 30 to May 11, in the Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina, Sochi. 

The German Youth Individual Chess Championships 2022 will be played from June 4th to June 11th in the Sauerland Stern Hotel in Willingen, the city that hosts German Youth Championships since 1996.

A Durham County Chess Congress 2022 took place over the weekend of 6-8 May in the Dolphin Centre, Darlington. Three chess events – Open tournament, Major event and Minor championship attracted a total of 159 entries and were played in 5 rounds, swiss system, with time control 100 min + 10 sec increment.
