The Baltic Zonal-Liepaja was a 9-round Swiss tournament which took place from 9-15 July 2018 in Liepaja, Latvia. This is the third of three Baltic Zonal tournaments and the overall winner qualifies for the 2019 Chess World Cup.
The 2018 Norwegian Championship took place in Sarpsborg from 6-14 July.
It was divided in 2 groups. The Elite group was intended for players rated above 2350, and has 24 players.

The 4th Xátiva Open is a 7-round Swiss tournament taking place from 16-20 July 2018 in Xátiva, Valencia, Spain. Players receive 90 minutes for the entire game, plus a 30-second increment starting from move one.
