World Schools Chess Championship 2016 – Medal Winners

The World Schools Individual Championship was held from December 2 till December 12 in Sochi. More than 400 young chess players from 30 countries took part in the event, for the first time ever hosted in Russia.

In the spring of 2016, the Presidential Board of FIDE unanimously supported the bid made by Russian Chess Federation. The opportunity to organize one of the key children events of the FIDE calendar was contested by a number of other countries, including Turkey, China, and India.

Nutcracker Generation Tournament

A traditional Christmas event – Nutcracker Generation Tournament – will be held on December 16-23 in the Central Chess Club in Moscow. There will be two Scheveningen matches: Kings vs. Princes and Queens vs. Princesses.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Khartoum, Sudan – Results

From 2 to 6 November 2016 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Khartoum, Sudan, by the Sudan Chess Federation, in cooperation with the Arab Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The lecturer was IA Hassan Khaled (EGY), FIDE Lecturer and Assistant Lecturer was FA Omer Musa (SUD).

The lectures were in Arabic language.

Twenty three (23) people from Sudan and Iraq participated in the Seminar.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Sochi – Results

From 6 to 10 December 2016 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Sochi, Russia, by the Russian Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The Seminar was organized during the 2016 World Schools Chess Championships.

The lecturer was IA Alexander Tkachev (RUS), FIDE Lecturer and Assistant lecturers were IA Alexander Ivanov (RUS).
