Teplice Open 2016

SK Teplice is holding its 11th International Chess Tournament from 11-19th June at the House of Culture in Teplice, Czech Republic.

179 players from 30 countries are competing in the 9-round Swiss event. Among them are 17 Grandmasters and 23 International Masters. The total prize fund is 170.000,- CZK.

Serbia set for 2016 Chess Olympiad

The Serbian Chess Federation has announced the complete lineups for the 42nd FIDE Chess Olympiad in Baku, Azerbaijan.

English teams for the 2016 Chess Olympiad announced

The 42nd FIDE Chess Olympiad starts on September 2nd in Baku, Azerbaijan. The English Chess Federation has announced the teams for Open and Women’s section.

Aleksei Pridorozhni stormed through Nezhmetdinov Memorial

Aleksei Pridorozhni, Grandmaster from Surgut in Ugra, convincingly won the 38th Nezhmetdinov Cup that was held from May 31st to June 8th at the Central Chess School in Kazan, Russia.

Pridorozhni signed 8 points from nine rounds, leaving the nearest followers a full point behind. Full standings below.

Russia – China 2016 chess match LIVE!

The traditional match between the national chess teams of Russia and China starts in Moscow. The opening ceremony of the friendship tournament, which was established in 2001, was held on 10 June 2016 at the Botvinnik Central House of Chess (14/1 Gogolevski Boulevard).

Game dates: June 11-15. Games will begin at 3pm Moscow time. The match will be held on 10 boards (5 men and 5 women), according to the Scheveningen system. The team with the most points will be declared the winner.

FIDE Commission for Disabled (DIS) meeting in Tallinn

The FIDE Commission for the Disabled (DIS) held its first meeting for 2016 in Tallinn, Estonia on 2-3rd June.

The main topic was the discussion on new regulations of FIDE DIS events and standardization of all DIS events with FIDE requirements.

The final drafts will be submitted for approval during the next FIDE Congress in Baku, 4-14 September 2016.

Russia-China friendly match starts in Moscow

China wins Belaya Ladya in Dagomys

The final of 2016 Belaya Ladya scholastic team competition ended on June 8 in Sochi. The team from China secured first place with a round to spare, however, second and third places were contested in a tense struggle.

In the last round, Moscow lost to China 1-3, St. Petersburg defeated Volgograd Region 2.5-1.5, Sverdlovsk Region defeated Moscow Region-2 2.5-1.5, Israel lost to Armenia 1-3, and Latvia defeated Novosibirsk Region 2.5-1.5.
