Gabor Papp wins 2016 World Chess Open

The 44th Annual World Open was held from June 30-July 4, 2016 at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown, 1201 Market St, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

The event had 9 sections: Open, Under 2200, Under 2000, Under 1800, Under 1600, Under 1400, Under 1200, Under 900 and Unrated.

The main Open section had 220 participants. After 9 rounds of Swiss seven players shared the first place with 7,0 points each.

Evgeny Postny to play in next Rilton Cup

The Israeli player Evgeny Postny, 35 years of age, is the first 2600+ player to sign up for Rilton Cup 2016/2017 which will be played between December 27th and January 5th.

GM Evgeny Postny has 2632 in ELO and will surely be among the favorites to win the trophy.

FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar in Silver Lake, Serbia

From 22 to 27 June 2016 a FIDE Arbiters’ Seminar was organized in Silver Lake, Serbia, by the Serbian Chess Federation and under the auspices of FIDE.

The Lecturer of the seminar was IA Viron Tsorbatzoglou (GRE), FIDE Lecturer and Assistant Lecturers were IA Branislav Suhartovic (SRB) and IA Zoran Bojovic (SRB).

The venue of the Seminar was the Danubia Park Garni Hotel in Silver Lake, Serbia.

The lectures were given in English language, with translation into Serbian language.
