Interview with Ryan Amburgy, winner of the 30th Space Coast Open

Ryan Amburgy finished top of the table at the 30th Space Coast Open in Melbourne. “Had a great tournament in Melbourne, Florida this weekend! Have gained 63 FIDE rating points over my last two tournaments as I push toward 2400 and the IM title!” said Ryan Amburgy, celebrating his title on X.

Hans Niemann passes polygraph test, challenges Dubov for a rematch

This week, exactly 30 days after the start of the Paris Freestyle withdrawal drama, Hans Niemann spoke on the topic for the first time. Besides other things, he mentioned the promised polygraph test, “A quick note regarding the polygraph: the initial test was canceled for logistical reasons, but after traveling, I have now arranged to complete it very soon. I am taking this polygraph solely because it was a condition of the match—not because I have anything to prove.”

10-year-old FM Roman Shogdzhiev continues making history – he scored an IM norm in Baku, finishing with 5,5/9 and 2500+ elo performance. The victory means extra 43 ELO points for Roman Shogdzhiev.

Levan Pantsulaia wins another chess festival in India

Levan Pantsulaia is the winner of KCA’s International Chess Festival God’s Own Country’s 1st GM International Category-A. This is yet another tournament win for Levan Pantsulaia after he won earlier this year the Bengaluru Grandmasters Open Chess Tournament.

Maraba Chess Open 2025

Maraba Chess Open 2025 takes place 19-22 June in Maraba, Brazil. It is a 7 rounds Swiss open tournament with classical time control, featuring GM Neuris Delgado Ramirez, GM Everaldo Matsuura, FM Luigy Lira De Siqueira, FM Juliana Sayumi Terao, NM Vitor Luis De Jesus Silverio, Jose Ferreira Azevedo Junior, etc.

The will also have a blitz section, taking place June 19.

Candela Be Francisco Guecamburu is the winner of American Women Continental Chess 2025

Candela Be Francisco Guecamburu claimed the title of American Women Continental Chess Champion 2025. She collected 7,5/9 and edged on tiebreak Anahi Ortiz Verdezoto, who got the silver medal. Third place is for Javiera Belen Gomez Barrera. Replay the games here

The winner of the championship qualifies for the FIDE Women World Cup and wins the WGM title. The second and third are awarded WIM titles.

Thanh Tu Tran is Japanese Chess Champion 2025

International Master Thanh Tu Tran is Japanese Chess Champion 2025. Tran won the 2025 edition of the championship with 8,0/9, which is 1,5 points ahead of his opponents.
